I've used the G-50 live with the following amps with no issues at all;

Marshall VM 2466
Bogner Alchemist
VHT/Fryette Deleverance 120

I have been using a Line 6 G-50 for over a year now, along with the other guitarist in our band, and we both have had no issues. I did buy a spare patch cable though, just incase. I can not tell any difference in sound using it vs. a cable.

I top wrap aswell. To me it seems to make the strings feel a little less stiff, making bends easier to do.

I just recieved my SL-5 and I must say it sounds great, especially with my Les Paul. I wasn't really planning on buying one but there was a dealer on ebay selling them for under $600.00 with free shipping so I couldn't pass that up. On my 2466 VM the effect loop would cut out as well. I would have to shut the amp down, meaning turning off both the stby and the main power. I just started using the MXR 10 band Eq in the loop of my VM 2466 and I cant believe what a difference it has made. You can def get some metal tones out of that set up.

I purchased one from sweetwater when they first came out. My biggest problem with it is that you have to be totally still with it or the video will be extremlly shakey. I hope you got the accessory pack with it, tri-pod, case, etc cause that tripod will be your best friend. also buy some really good...
