To be honest, most days I'd rather listen to Mark Knopfler or Jeff Beck take their sweet ass time bending one note with soul, then a million notes from YJM.
But every now and then you need a bit of YJM to spark the fire.
YJM was untouchable in his prime. Great tone, great riffs, great solos, lyrics about dragons and shit - what's not to like?
