Re: Just Ordered a Astoria Dual Combo

Bear in mind that a little more time spent with the Custom and you'd have that dialled in too :cowbell Yeah, that's the problem with these amps. The more time you spend with them, the more time you can't spend without them.... Too bad more of you guys aren't local. Would've fun to crank them up...

Re: Just Ordered a Astoria Dual Combo

On the basis of your low volume requirements, I think that you'll find the Custom the better choice. The only caveat is that it doesn't do really loud and really clean at the same time. So long as you don't need that, and so long as you're not expecting the boost to make it act as a two channel amp,...

Re: Anyone build an amp that is a clone or close to the Marshall Vintage Modern?

From what you describe, you want a JTM-45 with a loop and a master volume (that's how I view the VM in LDR, with body and detail being analogous to jumping the channels) but with classic construction techniques. Metropoulos will build it for you. I don't think you'll find one floating around off the...

Re: Just Ordered a Astoria Dual Combo

Definitely need to spend more time with it before making any decisions. Speaker will almost certainly need to be broken in a little. Also, experiment with the EQ, Edge and Body for bedroom vs gig/rehearsal volumes. The Dual was designed to give Clean and moderate OD, with higher gain lead tones com...

Re: Just Ordered a Astoria Dual Combo

I'll be interested in your impressions. From what you describe, my first reaction is that I'm not sure that either the Dual or the Custom are really a cross between a 1962 and a VM. The clean channel on the Dual definitely starts to break up depending on how you set it, so in that sense at least, it...

Re: giving the dual its due

Haven't played the Classic, so can't comment on that one. Pedals work great with the Dual on both channels. Practically though I tend to play the clean channel clean and only use OD pedals on the lead side from time to time. The Dual on the lead side is definitely a different beast than the Custom. ...

giving the dual its due

The Custom is so perfect in so many ways that I really haven't been playing the Dual so much. Actually, I had never played the Dual live with the band before a month ago. Playing the Dual solo, it's a great amp, but I got the Custom first, and have being so used to the Custom (which is voiced differ...

Kinda fun video

We tend to hear what we want to in these types of videos, but I thought that the Astoria Classic stood out.

Fun to listen to anyway...

Re: PRS 594

Man I am so glad you posted that. As you know I have been sniffing PRS for awhile now. I was watching Paul's video on this new 594 model and it really grabbed my attention. I liked what they did with the neck, pickups and putting the toggle where I like it. You just confirmed what I thought.... I w...

PRS 594

Simply the best guitar I've ever played. Makes every amp sound better, every pedal sound better... Not sure why, but it is what it is. http://i1112.photobucket.com/albums/k493/trmckn/PRS/594-1_zps7hps32ua.jpg http://i1112.photobucket.com/albums/k493/trmckn/PRS/594-3_zpsoyzoh5ef.jpg http://i1112.phot...

I like the way you roll TM1. If you're allowed, post what you come up with for the trailer. I'll be interested in how the AT7 works out for you...

Re: Follow-Up on the Astoria Custom NAD...

Interesting... Even with underwound pickups, I'd have thought that the Astoria Custom would have more than enough gain on-tap for most users. We all have different tastes though. We all have different tastes, but for any PAF style output, the Astoria is just perfect to me... but we all have differen...

Re: Time for Holiday 2016, 40 days of kick ass

Sounds super. I've been to Gottingen a few times over the last couple of years for work and absolutely love that part of Germany. One of these times I may even get up the nerve to impose on Sigi and ask for a visit. We'll all be looking forward to the pictures.
