Re: Treble bypass/bleed cap and resistor

Been playing around with the values for these as i have some guitars that are just awful for treble loss when you want to roll the volume back and to my ears a 150k resistor with a .001uF mylar cap works the best. Any of the combinations i tried with 1 meg or higher resistors didn't work very well ...

Re: Biasing with an O'scope

I haven't had access to an osciloscope since high school in the 1970's. But with pc/usb versions these days there's no reason not to have one. Given a clear idea of what ones going for, biasing this way seems to make a lot of sense, since it gives direct visual control of the balance of x-over contr...

Re: DigiTech Trio+ Band Creator and Looper Pedal

I just won some 'pocket money' in a World Cup tipping comp, and Im trying decide between a Trio+ or an SDRUM for its better drum sounds and guitar drivability, and maybe add a Jamman looper to sync with it. What do you think?

Re: Rivera Rockcrusher

Since we are talking about a few different models now, Ill just float this one by you: This is a clip from one that I built. Its my VM2266C, running at about 6 on the volume,, LDR mode and the bridge pickup of my LP. Its a looped riff, with the attenuator running at -27db, -21db, -14db -7db and then...

Re: Astoria Line: Marshall Made a Massive Blunder!

Hi Gene, yes Im the friendly JohnH (except when Im annoyed, which only happens rarely, and only on other forums!). It sounds like you are on a roll with the new DSL so good luck. Another thing Ive been finding to be much better than I expected is a very simple attenuator, with a series of switched s...

Re: Astoria Line: Marshall Made a Massive Blunder!

With Marshall's management's heads so squarely up their a$$e$, their best and brightest are leaving and they're possibly ready to lay off their most skilled workers. My guess is that they WILL likely re-release a similar version amp line, but will keep it a tad too expensive and change just enough ...

Re: 2466 arrived

Congrats on a great amp.

My favourite feature is how powerful the Detail and Body controls are for shaping the tone. There are no bad settings. Most users say Detail should be higher than Body, but turning Detail way down to just a smidge was sounding funky and jazzy on my VM2266c today.

Re: High range volume mod

Instead of an internal mod, how about a switched volume pot in the loop and use part of its foot switch to replicate the LDR/HDR pedal switch.? It could go in your fx loop chain with an extra cable back to the channel-change jack.

The earliest valve-powered computers in tbe 1940's were kept continuously powered up to improve reliability.

Congrats! Those 6120's are great and very cool. My bandmate has one, for his rockabilly moments but you can use it for anything.

Re: Hardwire pedals for a Vintage Modern

I wanted to show this board which I recently made for my Digitech Hardwire collection, which were aquired last year. http://i65.tinypic.com/2211g5.jpg The current order is: top row Boss Od3 (acts as buffer when off), then Hardwire tuner, overdrive, distortion and metal. At the far top left is a gues...

Re: 2266 series mod idea?

The amp responds so well to receiving a clean ir overdrive boost at the front that I wouldnt see any point in such a mod.

Its good that you found a couple of tweaks that you liked and carefully explored others without any damage happening.

Re: Hardwire pedals for a Vintage Modern

I plan to build a board, in two sections for those in the loop and those in front. The 5 fx loop pedals (mods, delay and reverb) are all linked in stereo with pairs of male/male plugs. They need to be tied down firmly to a board though since without something rigid under, the whole contraption, alth...

Re: How and where to mod the Reverb?

Good luck if you try it - Im doubtful. My guess: You might find it better with a much higher value instead of the 39k, even x10 or x20. Otherwise your feed back could swamp the signal coming in through the 1M R43.
