Re: How and where to mod the Reverb?

Really I dont know. I cant think of a reason why that would work better than what you just tried. R43 does not look like a good place to feed back to, and its very close to the FETs 1 and 2 which can be damaged. I cant think of any other easy options.

Re: Hardwire pedals for a Vintage Modern

Damn! I had to get an Sp7 Hardwire phaser too. BTW, Gear4music.com in the UK are blowing them out for 44pounds inc UK shipping. When I enwuired, for a nother 10 and they'll ship overseas. Now I have the full set, except the metal distortion (not my thing) and the tuner (rather use Boss). Since all t...

Re: How and where to mod the Reverb?

My suggestion wasnt to connect that 10k+pot directly to the chip but one component away - see references above. Maybe im being too cautious. Im not sure if if will be good or not but its not too hard to try.. Yes start at 110k

Re: How and where to mod the Reverb?

It looks that the VM reverb has a combined ground for the reverb, so I guess youd put signal and power grounds for the new module to that. Its the twi srerei outputs from the accutronics that you shouldnt directly join. Adding feedback around the VM reverb may be a crapshoot, whereby a good result i...

Re: How and where to mod the Reverb?

I'm glad my suggestion worked at least at a technical level. With that module, I don't see any reason why it couldn't be made to work. Both work at a 5 v supply so that's the same, and suggests the basic in and out voltages may be similar too. Don't connect two outputs from the module directly toget...

Re: How and where to mod the Reverb?

c31 and the reverb pot arent working like a normal gain or volume pot, and its not like a treble-bleed or bright cap where the more it passes treble, the more you hear. These parts are in a negative feedback loop at opamp IC1b. At max reverb, the pot (wired just a variable resistor) is at high value...

Re: How and where to mod the Reverb?

C30 is a much higher value, 2.2uF. its job is to let a the audio from the reverb chip through, and block dc. Id think theres not much to gain by changing it, It already lets all treble through tbough you could reduce ig to cut reverb bass.

Re: How and where to mod the Reverb?

OK well we can discuss how such a mod might work. First, a disclaimer. Im not an electronics engineer nor an amp tech. I havent tested the following and dont plan to. If anyone sees a problem please shout me down! The VM schematics are nicely presented here on this board (thankyou guys! I think its ...

Re: How and where to mod the Reverb?

Agreed. I have that amp. The reverb is nice for what it does but if you want a big 'verb,a pedal is better. I modded/boosted the verb on my dsl401 but Ive looked at the VM circuit and its not at all clear (to me) how to mod the verb without messing it up. I got a Digitech hardwire reverb which is gr...

Re: Hardwire pedals for a Vintage Modern

Yes I'm looking forward to trying out stereo. I'm getting enough connectors to run the stereo chain through the FX loop. Then ill try putting the second channel into my DSL401 FX return. In the loop, I'm starting with chorus and then delay, then trem (reckoning I want the warble of the trem not conf...

Re: Hardwire pedals for a Vintage Modern

Done... ...Ok, not quite done! 4 pedals are now 6. I added an SC2 distortion and a TR7 trem/vibe/rotary. The SC2 is in line with the CM2 overdrive at the amps front end. It definitely fits into the same tonal soundscape but extends the range into higher gain and brighter crunch. General output leve...

Re: Hardwire pedals for a Vintage Modern

The SN reverb came! - O yeah! Such a nice unit. Its perfect, and SO black. There are perfectly credible normal reverb settings that are easy to find, with Spring and Plate at each end of the dial, then all the others in between that can go from subtle to way 'out there'. I love it. The whole Hardwir...

Re: Hardwire pedals for a Vintage Modern

I have three of these going now, the overdrive CM-2, DL-8 delay and CR-7 chorus. They all sound great but there's a couple of quirks: The Cm-2 overdrive is one of a late batch that is labelled 'Tube Distortion'. But its definitely the sage-green overdrive and apparently this was a known 'typo' - no ...

Re: Hardwire pedals for a Vintage Modern

Thanks for those responses. Yes, I can see Ill need(want) that chorus! I think my plan for this pedal board will be to start with one buffer since I like the sound of guitar with just a 10' cable loading it. This could be in a Boss tuner or my OD3 which has a great tone with the VM. Then the CM2 ove...

Hardwire pedals for a Vintage Modern

Im on a bit of retro kick of discontinued gear from about 5 or 6 years ago. I've realised the new gear I wanted then is getting rarer by the month! So happy with my VM2266c. To go with it, Im upgrading my pedals and Ive always been very impressed by the solid design and tone of the Hardwire pedals b...
