Re: Hi!

I think the 800 combo sounded better tone wise.
The Yeti has lots of gain and sustain and I can see why you like it.
Its tone isn't as mid strong as a Marshall, but like most amps, you could dial that in.
It sits somewhere between a Marshall and a Mesa in this setup.

Re: NAD 2003 TSL100

Very nice, you know this is how Sigi started out!
And it's a good time to start collecting the big old amps no one else wants.

You say "kids at this age" but fail to say what his age is. From your previous post he will now be 3 years old, unless you had another one knocking around.

Re: Astoria Dual vs JTM45

Damn that's a tough call. I have the JTM45, and have had a private demo of the Dual by Chris George.
Of course the dual is more flexible, unless you use pedals in which case it's down to which tone you prefer.
If you roll the bass off the jtm it will be spot on for Clapton tones.

Re: Hi!

Having a real valve amp is the ultimate, and having somewhere that you can leave everything set up is vital for recording.
We might only get an hour, so we don't want to spend half of that setting up.

Re: Hi!

Good point there Cousin. Great idea using a mild form of ISO cab, and also the very important point of how a room effects the tone.

Re: Hi!

Thanks, I enjoyed those clips. Nice to see and hear you enjoying playing some classic rock.
Sounds good especially for a phone recording, and is full of harmonics in the distortion, which I like.
Thanks for sharing.

Re: Hi!

Hi wntbtw, good to hear from you. Yeah they were fun times back in 2012, getting and testing the 1w Marshall amps. The quest for us all to find the perfect amp continues though, and I'm glad you have found something even better. My quest continues too. The new 20/5w Studio Vintage (Plexi) is my new ...

Very nice. Interesting choice of pickup. If i remember, you put EMGs in your Strat too, so they are working for you.

Yeah, let's hope it's not expensive. Those 88s aren't cheap haha.
Btw they're cruising at 100w, could probably get 200w from 4 KT88s.

Re: NAD

After jamming with it last Saturday i really like it. It has a very organic sound, crunchy but not fizzy, very big and open sounding. The tone stack is unique. If playing on low chords turning the treble up doesn't add much to the tone but when you hit a high chord it's like it's on a boost, jumps ...
