Re: 2266 Hum on power

Hi Steve, Thank you for your reply. No I've never noticed any buzzing before, but then again I've never listened for a buzz till I read this post. I got the impression that the spacer was now fitted as standard on all units and that maybe it should be retro-fitted to the few early amps that didn't h...

Re: 2266 Hum on power

My 2266 is a 2007 model and I can see no spacer between the transformer and the chassis. Can anyone tell me how to get one and how to fix it? I assume this revision is now standard on current production.

Re: Doh!!!

I put Suhr Doug Aldrich's in my LP Standard. Would have been impossible to route the neck wire through without the bridge pup removed - to many corners to go round. Take the bridge pickup out and you can see what's going on.

Re: 425A / 1960AX COMPARISON

Hi surfnorthwest, Thanks for that - based on your experiences it sounds like I shouldn't worry about it and stick with my old faithful cab. As an aside - no difference between the 'A' and 'B' cab? I have always been under the impression that the 'B' cab was supposed to give you a bit more oomph! I'v...

425A / 1960AX COMPARISON

Apologies if this question has already been asked! Has anybody been lucky enough to compare the 1960AX cabinet side by side with the 425A at reasonable volume levels? I have been happily running my Vintage Modern 50 for over a year now through my 1960AX cab – sounds great. BUT, would I gain anything...

Re: CLASS 5 BAD RATTLES

Just like to backup SteveD's comments. I emailed Marshall's techy department when I first experienced this problem. Received a reply from one of their QA Engineers: 'We are aware of some vibration and/or rattling issues with the C5 of which are currently subject to an in-depth investigation. Any rem...

Re: CLASS 5 BAD RATTLES

Mornin' All, First up - a big thank you to SteveD for getting involved in this one. I'm sure you're even more frustrated and annoyed than me - thanks for your input. I don't know if I will be able to go back to the Class 5 in the future. Unfortunately, I think I might forever be listening out for pr...

Re: CLASS 5 BAD RATTLES

Hi y'all, Took my Class 5 back to the retailer today. Tried all three units in the shop - straight out of the box they all featured the same fault!!!! Methinks the problem has not been fixed. One of the amps was even rattling with 'bass set to '0'. At one point, both myself and the shop staff starte...

Re: CLASS 5 BAD RATTLES

Hi Chaps, Taking my Class 5 back to dealer tomorrow (Peach Guitars - one of the best). They are happy for me to try every unit in the shop till I find a good 'un. Wish someone would come clean as to what the problem is - apart from the fact that it looks like a bit of a crapshoot to find a problem f...

Re: CLASS 5 BAD RATTLES

Blimey! Mega-quick reply! This forums good ennit! Cheers rvin28 - Yeah of course back to the dealer and change the unit is probably going to be the way to go. I would be happier to know what the problem is and that Marshall has fixed it. If I do get one that doesn't rattle it would seem to me that t...

Re: CLASS 5 BAD RATTLES

Does anybody know what is causing this problem which I do not believe has been fixed? I bought a Class 5 yesterday after being blown away by the unit I tried on display. The amp I brought home was factory sealed and brand new. I should have took the one I demo-ed. Out of the box the new amp rattles ...
