thanks for your input MKB, what was the price of this love rock you played? I talked to the owner a few days ago, it is a model from post-2000 and cost him around $600 on ebay. It was a foreign auction also, apparently you can't get them from a US seller. It sure looks nice with all the flame on th...

I'm waiting on delivery of a Vintage 30 to install in an old Acoustic 1X12 cab, hope to have it in a few days. I'll give a report as soon as I get it in. I'll be using it with a 2466 head, of course carefully so I don't blow it.

Interesting thread. FWIW, the reason I bought a Vintage Modern is because it is basically a modded Super Lead. I don't like the channel switching Marshall heads, and I realized if I bought any vintage heads I'd have to add a master volume and boost its input with some kind of pedal to get it to work...

Another tip: when you are checking out the studio, check and see if they have a high quality drum set already set up and mic'd. If so, that will save you at least an hour, maybe more on your studio bill. Setting up and mic'ing drums well takes an incredible amount of time. One song we recorded a few...

+1 on the studio. If you do a bit of searching, I would bet that you can find a good professional studio at a reasonable price. We have gone the home studio vs. pro studio route with our band, and for time, quality, and "lack of aggravation" factor, the pro studio wins every time. On thing to consid...

Sorry, don't know, it belonged to a friend from out of town. I'll ask him next time I see him.

I wish I liked the Splawns, his shop is less than an hour from my house. He's got a funky little place tucked in a corner of a nice little town called Dallas, NC. His amps do sound excellent, but too high gain and crunchy for me. The VM has all the gain and more that I'll ever need.

I played a Love Rock a few weeks ago, it was a newer model. I wasn't too impressed, felt and sounded a lot like a standard line Epiphone. However there are a few famous guys playing them, you see Billy Gibbons with one a lot, and Robert Fripp's main guitar is one as well. The older ones may be bette...

This may be a bit of heresy on this thread but... I don't like Les Pauls (ducks). I've had several over the years, and just didn't like how they played, although the tone was fantastic. I decided it was the neck/body joint and the alignment of the neck strap button with the neck, as well as the weig...

I am getting tired of all this nonsens that an amp must be better because it´s handwired. +1, total nonsense. It is like the Les Paul debate where people say they can hear the difference between a weight relieved Les Paul and one that's not. You can actually make quite the argument that a PCB amp ...
