Robin uses 100 watt Vintage-Moderns. I have them sitting on the floor about 2 feet away from me . He has 4 of them and two of the 1987x heads with the bright caps cut out of board.
I've been working on Robin's amps here in the U.S. for 10 years (at least)..

So.. I'm wondering how many here have installed NOS valves in their Astoria's? I put 3-Brimar 12AX7's in V1-V3, a Telefunken ECC83 in V4(PI) a matched pair of New Old Stock GEC/ M.O.Valve KT-66's and a NOS Mullard GZ34. The difference wasn't subtle. Since I was curious too as to the pot when I received mine last month (right before NAMM). I checked it out and it's an adjustment pot for the Heater Voltage. It lets you adjust the 6v A.C. supply for the valve heaters as some valves can draw more on one side than some others and some Mains tranny's...
