Re: What A Shame!

Yeah, well any truly good player "CAN" get the sounds they need from a wide variety of amps. For me, it's all about getting what I want in the most easy and convenient manner, so that I can focus more on the flow of my playing and singing, instead of on how to "wring" my preferred sounds out of any ...

What A Shame!

Truly a shame that the Astoria has been discontinued! :dunno This was one of the most nicely laid out for mods amps that Marshall has built in years! :eek Even if the switching system gets wonky, a good tech/modder could get around that. The other sad part is that they didn't sell enough of them for...

Re: Not A Very Patient Patient!

You, my friend along with our "Cousin Muely" are being very little help here! :scared2 I too am sort of a vintage type 'o' guy and am guessing the Origin is gonna be my keeper, but I'm open to being surprised. :think Worst case will be a Mini Jube purchase or run what I already brung! Thanx 4 Replyi...

Not A Very Patient Patient!

Hey Folks, I've been suffering from, self diagnosed and scheduled treatment for a very serious case of GAS! Though I'm trying my best, I'm not being a very patient patient! Though I've pre-ordered an Origin 20C and it's supposed to ship by April 20, along with a DSL 20CR, this GAS is simply killing ...

Re: Origin 20 Pre-Ordered, AND...!

I already heard that test, let me make it easy. Keep the Origin. It will be interesting if your conclusion is the same. As always it just my opinion and its all subjective. I actually think both the 100 watt dsl and the 50 watt Origin sound better than their lower watt cousins. I'm betting that you...

Re: Origin 20 Pre-Ordered, AND...!

AGAIN, as usual, you're absolutely no help in keeping my GAS under control :doh ! Don't think that thought hasn't crossed my addled & feeble brain! :Jerkoff Luckily/hopefully, I'm smart enough to know that two pizzas a month is too much cheese for my lactose intolerant system! :whatever Thanx 4 Nut...

Origin 20 Pre-Ordered, AND...!

Hey Folks, It's a toss up as to whether this should be posted here or in the new DSL sub-forum. I "pre-ordered" an Origin 20C and also ordered a DSL 20CR to not get the DSL shipped until both could be shipped at the same time. My plan is to "audition" both, side by side, through their own speakers a...

Re: Tube failures.

SteveD, I love attempting to be an armchair detective! :think Just what kinds of problems are you suspecting the "heat stress" may be causing? Could it be that the over heated areas may be becoming partially conductive? The only other thing I can think of would be the possibilty that over heating h...

DSL Questions/Confusion?

Hi Fine Folks, There is a member at the Marshall forum who bought a new DSL5CR. He pointed out that it only has two preamp tubes, whereas the previous DSL5C had three and had pics to confirm. He claims (not sure how valid the claim is or just an assumption on his part) that the phase inverter tube a...

Re: DSL20HR Gut Shots!

It will all end in tears, and bloodshed. The West cannot survive as an education/financial services economy........ The East is indeed playing a long game - better improve your Mandarin if you want a place in the New World Order of Mao. Part of the problem is the unwillingness of the West to admit ...

Re: DSL20HR Gut Shots!

With the machines they have today that put these boards together and the minimum labor required to assemble this I really wonder what the cost is to make these. I would bet it is less than $200. Could even be less than $100! :eek Just look at some the prices other amps from Chinesiawanoreanam have ...

Re: DSL20HR Gut Shots!

Ahhh, upon a second glance, I can see the solder pads/traces for that chip, up near the upper left corner of that vertically mounted circuit board.

Never Mind! :Jerkoff :bong

DSL20HR Gut Shots!

If anyone cares, understands and/or is intrigued by such stuff, here's a link to a thread with some high resolution gut, etc, shots of a DSL20HR. http://www.marshallforum.com/threads/dsl20-hr-gut-shots.100804/#post-1697896 I'm surprised that we can't see the big processor chip for the reverb that is...
