Re: NAD! DSL20HR

Cousin Muely, WOW, you're not being any help at all, my friend! :roll :tounge While I'm trying to decide which of these three amps (DSL40, DSL20, Mini Jubilee) might be best for my purposes, you are instead convincing me that I actually NEED at least two of them! :scared2 Though the Origin 20 may en...

Re: Authorized Marshall Service Techs?

Well Folks, here's the skinny, without getting too deep into any of Marshall's proprietary details and/or guarded secrets. There's a lot of info for those who have any interest in such things! This is a copy and paste of a discussion on another forum. FWIW, LPS refers to "London Power Scaling" and i...

Re: NAD! DSL20HR

Cousin Muely,
How does this amp compare to your Mini Jubilee, in terms of both power settings of each and overall tones? Is the Jubilee more of a one trick pony, with the DSL being more versatile?
Thanks,
Gene

Authorized Marshall Service Techs?

Hey Folks, Hoping someone may be able to help me out here. I won't bother asking for a schematic for any of the new DSL series amps, as I know how closely guarded they are. I am however, hoping that an authorized Technician may be able to peruse one to determine how simple (or not) it may be to chan...

Re: DSL Switching Issues?

Bearing in mind that there are a few "numb-nuts" types over there, as well as those that don't seem to respond to the actual topic at hand, you asked for it! http://www.marshallforum.com/threads/dsl40cr-fx-loop-switching-bug-pleast-test-this.100566/ http://www.marshallforum.com/threads/dsl-20hr-anot...

DSL Switching Issues?

Hey Folks, Has anyone here been having and/or reading/hearing about multiple switching issues on this new DSL series? I've been seeing a lot of similar, related issues, throughout the series, even though they are not all exactly the same. There seem to be enough of them to not be able to simply writ...

Re: Got GAS? Need Match!

Hey Cous,
Thanks for your candor. I hear all that you're saying! I do however, like the concept of channel switching, but the feature seems totally useless if twisting knobs is required every time you use it! :bitching Kinda defeats the whole purpose!
Thanks Again,
Gene

Got GAS? Need Match!

Hi Folks, For the last year & a half, or so, I've been blindly and happily playing through a "built by me" very authentic '57 Tweed Deluxe clone. The other day, I set up an additional rig at a new music project location, my Class 5 head into a 1965B cab. Holy crap, I suddenly realized I had forgotte...

Re: DSL5CCW with a 12" Celestion G12H-55

On the Class5, there is no effective point to place a loop, given that the majority of overdrive tone is derived from driving that single EL 84 into distortion. Any loop would be pretty anemic. The DSL 15 not having a loop was just plain stupid, especially on the head version that deletes the reverb...

Re: WELL CRAP!

SteveD, Thanks for the thoughts. I can understand how it goes, but understanding doesn't truly cure the G.A.S. situation! I guess I just need to do another amp build to keep my G.A.S at bay while waiting. Next up on the sacrificial chopping block is a 5E4 Super preamp section into a cathode biased 5...

Re: Trying To Be Patient!

Still trying to be patient! At least the waiting will allow time to figure out how to possibly justify the $$$ of either to my wife and wallet! :whatever Here's a list of what amps I "COULD" sell to finance it, but I really don't want to give up any, as the reason I have them is because I like them ...

Re: Astoria hanging out

Do you actually have 3 ES guitars or just one from the first pic with a second added for the second pic? Also, in thew second pic, is the one on the left a 339 or........? I ask because there is no jack on the front! :dunno Great looking instruments, they just have "that look" of being monstrous pla...

Re: Astoria Power reduction

From reading between the lines I'm going to guess that the "power reduction" feature is not much more than a trimmed down version of "power scaling" but instead of having it be continuously variable, it simply switches to only one pre-set lower voltage setting to the power tubes. It would be nice to...
