Re: 12au7 in preamp

Hello Stratmauler; with the 12au's in v1 and v2 I get a smooth blues type overdrive when body is at 10 and detail is at 8. In the high dynamic range I have to lower the master volume some what to get a more saturated OD. I doubt that it would work for shred or over the top metal. I have not tried to...

Re: Curing Sticky-Neck Syndrome

Please take note that Naptha is toxic, is a known carcinogen and should be used sparingly. I have always wondered why people look at the gloss finish as the problem. A clean neck will always create less friction than a dirty one. What you suggest works fine. However sweat from hands can often be the...

Re: New Addition to the SkinnyJ Family...

Dogs are wonderful companions. Congratulations. Both my dogs are rescues . The first was literally standing in his own shit. Tied to a tree by a cheap hardware store chain. There was blood and cuts around his throat. When I approached him, he threw himself into my arms as if to say " rescue me" It t...

Re: 12au7 in preamp

Actually I did find a smoother overdrive sound with Mullard in my JTM60. I also really liked GE. I had Tungsram for 12ax7's. One of the best 12ax7's I ever had. In the 80's and 90's you could still get them for a reasonable price. Since then prices have skyrocketed. Although I do find that the quali...

Re: I connect in 2466 a attenuator in a bad way

Hello, once you get your amp working properly you may try the 12au7 swap as I mentioned in my first post. There is no risk to the amp and you can get a great driving sound at a reasonable volume. It might not work for metal or shred, but that could be fixed with an overdrive effect.

Good luck

12au7 in preamp

Hello everyone, first post. I have had my 2266c for just over six months. I play mostly blues, classic rock and some jazz. One of the best amps I have ever owned. I have had Marshall, Fender and Traynor in the past and have been playing guitar for fifty years now. I find the vintage modern to be rea...
