I have a five string Dean bass, but I changed the strings to E A D G B, so I had to get a 40 gauge 1st string. This way I can play it just as my normal guitar, and is great for chords too!

Yes, a Strat really helps here to cut through, also the low output seems to help with the amp, which can get overloaded with humbuckers at high EPA settings. One other thing that's important with this tone is the G12H55 speaker I was using.
I love that speaker.

I just used a small screw driver to lever them off pushing in the direction you want the clip to go. When it does come off, use the same driver to open the clips up a little (but keep them quite tight still) so you can use fingers in future.

Thanks for the update, I was interested how it compared to your other LP's. As you remember, I had to lower the action which pulled it into my hand, and I've got Spider fingers!
