Re: Boston Profiles

I spent about three years in college trying to capture the Boston tone. If you get a six band and set it properly it turns just about any Marshall amp into the first album. That's just about my favorite guitar tone ever. The problem was that once I got everything right I was totally turned off by it...

Re: Contemplating a new amp....................

Might I suggest something from the clone route. I have a Rockitt Retro 1987 clone. The guy who builds them is in St. Louis and he invited me to his house when I called to inquire about them. He had a bunch of them and he let me play a head and cab as well as one of his combo offerings. It's a specta...

I know that Pete Thorn has a couple and loves them. You can hear them on a lot of his demo vids.

Re: NEW IBANEZ JCUSTOM LINE

I'm with Surf here. For some reason I have just never liked Ibanez superstrats. I like Charvels and Jacksons. I've not had the opportunity to play a Kramer but I think they're cool, but for some reason... I dunno. Ibanez supers and Ernie Balls have just never struck me well and I can't quite put my ...

Re: Band's new single

Thanks guys! I checked out The Kills and I can sort of see that. I'll pass the kind words on to Todd about his singing.

Any love for the 80s Rockman growly-squeedlies of Myrone?

Re: NAD VM 2266

I've only played a VM once. I hunted for one for a while but where I'm at they are pretty rare and I wasn't wanting to buy one sight unseen. So after I'd collected a bunch of other amps I found a combo in GC and just plugged into it and I found it to be one of the few amps that simply can't sound ba...

Re: Band's new single

Very original sound, I was trying to match the sound with another band but can't. Liked the rhythm line in it and the singer has a punk like voice, probably more fun live. Congrats Thanks Surf! It’s actually our drummer singing that song. The rhythm guitar tone is my Class 5 propped up on the toile...

Re: Silent recording

Get one of these: Ultimate guitar recording tool Before you roll your eyes, I'm not joking. They are extremely versatile and they have an emulated line out function that sounds great . Onboard effects and reverb, effects loop, footswitch capable... I have one and it is really my go-to recording tool...

New speakers

I finally got some speakers I ordered back in December. I found a cheap (I mean pennies on the dollar cheap) Germino 212 from Guitar Center. It was so inexpensive I expected an empty cabinet when I opened it up. Nope. G1265 reissues. I actually like these despite not being too fond of the originals ...
