Question on Loop Level, Reverb and Gain

Postby Matt M » 04 Jul 2018, 17:11

Hello All,

Just picked up a 2466 head and 425A cab. I had it retubed and biased with Penta KT66s and new preamp tubes recommended from Dougs Tubes. It sounds good and is healthy overall, but has a few issues. Would appreciate any suggestions.

1) When the FX loop is engaged with straight cable patched from send to return the volume level is significantly quieter vs loop off. Does not matter if I have it at +4 or -10. When I plug a guitar straight into the return it's also quieter and sounds dark. i normally use a Delay in the loop and it does not sound good with either setting because it's losing so much level I think

2) The amps Reverb will not activate unless I power the amp fully on and bypass standby. When I power on into standby then take standby off the verb does not work

3) The amp does not seem to have as much gain (loop out) in LDR as most of the samples I've seen. It breaks up some with Detail and Body both on 7, but not as much as I've heard in other samples

Any ideas greatly appreciated,
Thanks Matt
