SV20

Postby Tiboy » 05 Nov 2019, 16:10

I find myself incrementally all in on the SV. First the amp, then the Weber MiniMass 50, Now the SV212 due to arrive next week. I did not care for the SV through the 425 cab. I guess I should’ve known this from FullBend’s excellent comparison. I’m also thinking of adding a Tumnus Deluxe to the board.

Thats a very nice pedal but I would be concerned that it would add noise to the amp if you integrated it.

Thanks for the heads up Surf. A few of the guys on the Marshall Forum are liking it. I’ll buy new from the local GC so I can return it if not to my liking. Do you have any other suggestions?

Hey, Tiboy, happy to hear you got the SV20. For what it's worth, my latest setup is the SV20 into the G12M Heritage (the winner in my speaker shootout), but as usual for me, I combine this with another amp for a stereo rig using the stereo outs on one or more Strymon pedals. The second amp I've settled on is the JCM1 (i.e., JCM800 1-watter). This is an amp I did not previously use much because I preferred the more classic sound of the JMP1, but combined with the SV20 and properly balanced volume-wise, this amp gives just enough added crunch for some really great 70s (and later) rock tones. I feed the JCM1 into a 2x12 containing a Vintage 30 and a G12H30. I've been meaning to record this setup; will give it a go one of these days.
Marshall: Vintage Modern 2466, JTM-1H, JMP-1C, JCM-1H, DSL-1H, JVM-1H, SV20H. Fender: Deluxe Reverb, Blues Deluxe. Vox AC10C1, Line 6 FlexTone III Plus, 1936V 2x12 cab, StoneAge custom 1x12 cab, Les Pauls, ES-175C, Strat, Tele, various acoustic guitars and pedals.

My bad. For some reason I had read that as if you were going to install the pedal into the board of the amp.... duh. :roll

Wampler does great pedals and I am sure it will push the SV to where you want it.
