between these two things my CPU has been pegged making recording & everything else a bitch lately.

FWIW the PC I use in the studio has no internet connection. Nothing like laying down a juicy track then Windows wanting to install an update. The computer is stand alone which can have its problems too. Just this weekend I went to download the Firmware and drivers for my RME 800 interface and the update firmware for my Kemper. Well it would not do it because my computer internal clock was set to 2003, it has to go to the internet and sync so I did that and everything updated fine.

that's the only reason my recording comp is hooked to the internet- VST downloads,DAW updates/upgrades,etc. of course Antivirus & AntiMalware has to be on for peace of mind for that.
