What is your feeding schedule?

Postby ClassicRock88 » 15 Jul 2013, 10:38

When does everybody here retube their gear? I actually run a bit of a schedule. My big amps (EL34, 6L6) that get run hard or routinely get new tubes every year to year and a half. The other ones that I mostly just use for practice or recording get new ones every 2-3 years or so (i.e. my Bassman, which maybe sees action once every three months....)

My Blues Jr. gets new tubes about every two years... I want/need to use that amp more but I have heard way too much about the overheating issue to feel comfortable beating on that little amp very often for a long period of time. So once again it is a plinking around amp until I find a tech who will cool the bias down for me.

Class 5 - Every 10 -12 months or until its EL84 pops. I have had the amp for 3 years and it is on power tube no. 4.

Anytime I get the feeling the amp isn't giving me any mojo I retube. Some of my amps are still great afters years.

I do it whenever a tube goes out. I ALWAYS have a back up amp at every practice, and every show.
Many Marshall's, and I want more.
