Yet another tube sticky idea

Postby ClassicRock88 » 19 Nov 2013, 04:41

My recent run-in with a Sovtek LPS lasting only a few hours in V2 had me wondering. There are some good tubes out there that won't work in certain applications. Why not start a collection thread?

For instance: Sovtek 12AX7 LPS doesn't survive long in the cathode follower slot.

EL84M cooks board fuses in Class 5.

Metal based KT66's can cause ground shorts in the Vintage Modern.

If we made an open thread where people could post these "oddities" that they have discovered might save folks some time because they could primarily search one thread for research on if a new tube they are looking at is "safe."

I think tubes today are just hit and miss regaurdless of brand. Some can go to shit after a day and some last like the old ones did.
