Bias Master BM4 meter

Postby surfnorthwest » 29 Mar 2009, 07:49

I have been looking at getting my own bias meter and this one looks to be a great unit. Wanted to check and see if anyone has used this before or their thoughts on it. Basically it will do a 2 or 4 tube bias by plugging their conectors into the tube sockets and then putting the tubes into the conectors. Looks to be real simple. Here is a video on how to use it.

Measures the current of 4x any standard base octal power tubes (6L6, EL34, 6550, etc). Measures EL84 current with optional noval proble set. See item #4152010 Bias Master EL84 Adapter

Looks like a good unit, but why pay $240 when you can get the job done for $35?
I got the bias probe and multimeter from Bob @ Eurotubes and it works just fine. Used it to bias my Twin. Just use the multimeter to bias the VM since I have to pull the chassis anyway.

Then it's probably self adjusting.

Actually, there are a lot of old school amps out there with no bias pot. You have to actually replace the resister on it to change the bias. :bang
