MULLARD EL34 XF2 OO GETTER

Postby surfnorthwest » 08 Jul 2009, 18:05

Well I have lived with the JJ KT77s for about a month now and I think they have to go. Not that they are that bad, they are not, but I simply think any plexi type amp needs the Vintage EL34s. If anyone wants a pair of JJ KT77s let me know. My 100 watt Metro has the Harma EL 34s and they are great.

Anyways I decide to go all out with the EL34s in the Granger amp and found a new matched pair of Mullard EL34 XF2 OO Getters labeled as Siemens Halske. I have always thought of these tubes as the best EL34s one can buy and they are getting harder to find. They are expensive as hell but should last me for years so it is worth it to me. They are rated for 10,000 hours

Below is a pic of the ones I bought for the 50 watt Granger. These are new and stamped from Blackburn 1967. :Thumbs Only downside is I had to order them from France :dunno

I remember reading a post you made saying you liked the kt-77s. . . What changed your mind?

Time. The KT77s have a very acceptable tone but they are not what I have come to expect from a JMP type amp. These vintage EL34s is what a amp like this should have. I tried the KT77s based on the amp builders recomendation. After a few weeks I had a change of heart.
