Yes, if the bias mismatch per side is dramatic enough, the tone will be affected.

ah ok, maybe that's what it is because I think they are way different since replacing the 1 KT66. Steve, do I have to buy all 4 tubes or just one matched pair to get me back in range?

It would be preferable to buy at least a pair to balance the sides.
