One of my 2466 amps was humming so I got a quad of these Golden Lions. I can A/B them with my other amp and I would say that the GL tubes have more midrange but without a doubt the stock tubes have better bass and sound fuller to me. I will keep them because I paid over$150 for them but I do not think they are a improvment over the stock tubes. On the good side the hum went away.

Perhaps four stock vs four GL is a bit different from two stock vs two GL?

I think you are the first one reporting on GLs in a 2466... I don't know... just a thought. :crazy

Bringing this thread to life again...

After running Gold Lions for five months, I put the brand new Shuguang KT66s from TubeAmpDoctor in the amp, biased to 46-47 mV and I like it much better now. They are brighter alright, but they have definitely much better definition, tighter bottom and overall much better tone that holds together nicely. I also find the harmonics to me more lively, having more note blooming. The GLs have more of a swampy attack and a muddy tone and it doesn't cut through good enough. The GLs lack a bit of aggressiveness too.

Shuguangs all the way from now on.

I'm about to buy some tubes, is Gold Lion considered the best KT66 new prod out there?

Hey guys, just realized that the 2266 combo I bought 3 months ago had Groove Tubes: 6L6's in them - no wonder the tone was so sucky.

As for replacements, I'd like either Gold Lions or JJ's. How do JJ's sound compared to the Gold Lions? Is it noticeable?

And are there any good 12Ax7's you can recommend? Much thanks.

Televisions seem to be the worse culprits when it comes to RF signal, turn off the TV !!
