A little warmer sounding I think. Not a dramatic change. I like them but the shuguangs were pretty good too.

Man, I've gotta try those fancy brands you all mention. Cuz I got such dramatic tone mods from swapping tubes just with the junkers I have.

I had a box of over twenty old tubes and played around trying them in V2 and then in V1 positions. The baseline tone was fun, but it has that characteristic clippy raspy sound. And, as I would bend a double stop, there was a small unappealing high beating overtone. I settled on a tube in V1 that was everything I was looking for. I moved the original Marshall red label V1 into V2 just cuz it looks premium. The best V1 tube in my hodge podge was labeled MESA 12AX7-A RUSSIA.

The vintage tubes I tried that didn't make the cut include labels like JAN Phillips, Hungary, Japan, ECC83, and some newer Mesa's, SPAX7A's and EH's. I also tried a similar variety AT7's, AU7's, and AV7's in the V2 position. Nothing interesting there.
With great distortion comes great responsibility.

I'm running 4 JJ preamp valves but, controversially, also running 2 JJ power amp valves too.

I quite like how they darken things up.

Preamp Tung Sol ECC83 all the way
Poweramp Marshall Shuagangs.

I love the sound. A bit brighter than usually found in Marshall Amps, but no shrill end or scratchy highs. Smooth as creame. Great for less hard rock and more blues/rock sound.

V1- JJ ECC83
V2- JJ ECC83
V3- Telefunken 12ax7
V4- EH Gold 12ax7
Shuagang KT66's

Tried some new Mullards for V1&2, weren't the tone for me :dunno (but they do suit my JCM 800). Stock KT66's are the good stuff. Tried GT-KT66HP's but after 2 weeks was not liking it. :deney

I recently replaced mine with Penta KT66 power tubes; a Tung Sol in V1, JAN 5751 in V2, Sovtek LPS in V3, and a Penta 12ax7 in V4. It sounds awesome!
