Sometimes I'll find a $5 bill in the dryer. That's about as good as it gets around here.

Those old tube testers found in stores were just emissions testers. Basically, all they did was prove the tube would pass current. A real good tester back in the day was a transconductance tester.

Right now, there are two excellent testers being made, but they are really expensive. The Amplitrex AT1000 and the Maxi-Matcher.

Lot's of great Marshall's and a few good guitars.

I have a pair of Mullard 12ax7 tubes out of a hammond organ. They are from 1962. I've noticed in several amps I have owned, and 2 of them were Marshalls, that the difference was really noticeable from the CP tubes I had. I compared them with a TungSol 12ax7 in the v1 position. There was a noticeable difference in the highs. It was clearer without getting brighter. You could tell that it was a better quality tube. It's hard to describe, but it was enough that anyone would have noticed it. On a G chord, the individual notes seemed to jump out more, and it had a little more "Kerrang" to it.
