Marshall Spare parts

Postby Mats A » 28 Apr 2011, 13:34

Why has Marshall stopped selling spare parts like valves. How is the Electro Harmonix EL34 valves in a Marshall?

Who said we stopped selling valves? Electro Harmonix is not a brand we tend to use here at the UK factory.

Maybe it´s the swedish distributor EM Nordic that has stopped selling these. So i was told through my local music shop. Kow is these E H valves by the way?
I can´t find any valves among the products on the Marshall amps site anyway.

Yes maybe it is the Swedish distributor. I don't really know to be honest and I haven't really tested EH valves so couldn't offer any solid advice.

Regarding EL34s, Svetlana winged C is a good quality product.

I do believe the Svetlana valves from the States are not genuine 'winged C's.

Check out this place, www.uraltone.com
It's located "near" to you, in Finland.
You can order a package to sweden and it won't cost you a lot. Probably the same amount as in sweden, around 12 Euros.
They are a reliable place to buy and it's safe to use your visa card. Anyway, that's where I buy my stuff so I can recommend them.

Didn't know about this one.
I will try it out and get some tubes next time I need some.
I have been thinking about getting some Gold Lions for my VM.
They have Genalex Gold Lion KT66 for 35 Euros .. i guess that's how much they cost ... thats one of the few drawbacks of the 100w... 4 poweramp tubes !

Mats, what amp do you have and what's the goal with your sound(depends a bit on the tubes)?

JJ's are good!
In Sweden maybe this:
http://gmf.jetshop.se/default.aspx?main ... c-720.aspx

"EuroTubes" got full retube kits for just about any amp...

Thanks a lot!
I got a JVM that needs new tubes. And i got an AFD100 that i want to try EL34´s in.
Will the EL34L´s work as good as EL34´s?

Your welcome!

I had a JVM before, and tested a bit with mixing EL34/5881.. not that big difference, but fun ;)

When i bought my JCM900 SL-X back in 1993 it came originally fitted with 5881´s to my surprise then. I later had the valves changed to EL34´s, using the 5881 to EL34 conversion manual you could get from Marshall at that time, but did not notice a big difference in sound as i seem to remember.

Is it possible to buy valves from Marshall since the swedish distributor don´t sell Marshall pre packed valves like they used to?
