A Few Questions [Help]

Postby rineanna » 07 Jan 2013, 12:27

Hi guys,

I'm trying to use my Vintage Modern with my Blackstar HT1. Can I put the Blackstar into the Marshall fx return while using the Marshall as well? I'm using an AB box. I Also have a PA that I can plug the Blackstar into but can I use the speaker out or should I use line out? The line out gives a HUGE amount of hum..........Thanks in advance

And as a completely separate question.....Has anyone tried the Ashdown Fallen Angel amps?

Yes, a few years ago a friend of mine had one (40w combo) and I used it often. The amount of BASS from this amp is addictive, so beefy, but not a class tone or detail. Great for metal, but I hear they overheat and blow valves. This happened to his also. Made in China.

Yeah I've heard their pretty bassy alright. Haven't heard about the tube blowing though. I think I'll pass on it. Thanks!

The speaker emulated (headphone) out is stereo; this presents a slight problem. If you make a stereo to mono cable, you could try connecting either the left or right channel into the VM FX return. That should work fine. DO NOT use the HT-1 speaker output!

DO NOT use the speaker output. You must use the line out for the PA. The hum you're getting is either from using the wrong cable (you need a stereo to mono, or TRS to TS) or a ground loop.

Thanks for the response. Yeah I didn't think I could use the speaker out but I said I might as well ask. I am only using a mono cable (I'll get a Y cable soon) but I'm nearly sure there's a hell of a lot of Ground Hum too. Any ideas on how to get rid of it? :shredder

You need to use the Stereo-Mono cable......

If that doesn't work. the best way to quickly eliminate a ground loop is with the Ebtech Hum Eliminator:
