new Slate virtual microphone system

not a bad price considering what all you get-

here's a post from Steven Slate-

Hi guys. The initial package will be the dual preamp/converter, ML-1 large mic, and ML-2 small mic. Price is somewhere in 2k range.

It will ship with several classic models of large diaphragm mics for the ML-1, and tons of classic AND custom mics for the ML-2. We will absolutely have models of the mic you mention above as it is a personal favorite.

This is beyond exciting for us. We've been working extremely hard on this for so long, and as all the NAMM visitors are about to hear... the results are pretty insane. The 47 we will be A/Bing is one of the most characteristic that I've heard, and our ML-1 model absolutely nails it.

We also have several great preamp models, starting of course with two of the classics, the British 73 and the Tube 76.

So much more to say, but back to NAMM prep!

Cheers,
Steven

Hmmmm. Me sceptical! Crap in = processed crap out!
As more and more modeling is available I turn more to old school game.
I even thinking to start using tape recording machine.
:dunno

I'll wait until it's really out there for more review & testing but I will say this about "old school",no matter how much "vintage " & analog gear you throw @ a project it's still going to go through digitization & compressed down to radio or mp3 format & 99% will be heard through a ringtone or $10 Walmart earbuds.. :roll

that said, I always do 2 mixes- 1 for that & 1 for cd & vinyl pressing to be listenend to over tube driven Hi-Fi.

I'll have to try it for myself. the Steven Slate drum stuff is pretty good so I'd give this a chance in a demo. if it's even 1/2 of what they say,@ $2000 full pkg. it's a lot less than even a 1/2 assed mic locker & 1 "decent" UA channel strip.
