My primary interface is a Mackie Onyx 1220i mixer. It has fabulous Mic preamps and the fact that it is both a mixer and DAW interface allows me to play/practice/test without my computer. It also acts as my main stereo DAW out. This is a 16x2 interface.

My other interface is a Presonus Firestudio Project, a more traditional DAW interface. It's 10x10, with 8 high-quality Mic preamps. 8 Outputs are fully configurable through the DAW, and it's MIDI controllable.

I aggregate both interfaces on my Mac for a total of 26x12 - more than enough!

right now I have a M-Audio Fast Track c400 & older Tascam us122 basically for a backup.
I'm looking @ multi inputs & wanted a Tascam US 2000 but they're now discontinued so it's a toss up between
Focusrite Scarlett 18i20
Steinberg UR 824

whichever it is it has to play nice w/ another unit simultaneously or be able to be daisy chained.
people use the Tascan US 1800 quite a bit but you can't run 2 @ once. :Jerkoff

Well, I had the US-1800 & it fizzed out. Sent it back & they sent me a new one, which the phantom power 48 didn't work, right out of the box. Sent it back & paid the difference for the Scarlett 18i20 & have had no problems. Oh, 1 problem, it doesn't fit in my rack. It's about 1/8"-3/16" too wide. I just put it on top & my monitor on top of it...

I use three used motu 2408 MK II's , 2 have been modded @ Black Lion Audio. I also use an apogee duet. I'm upgrading this year to 3 Motu HD192 black lion mods.
I was using a Yamaha O2R with these interfaces. I sold it because I don't need it with the HD192's . I have use of the Onyx 24.4 till then (my friend bought it for $450.00) it sounds pretty good, clean preamps with some headroom ( I wish the D25 connectors were TDIF it would make life simple).

I think the saying " you get what you pay for" is pretty applicable to converters. I think have a 192k converter is a must. Fast Firewire and a computer built to handle multiple plug-ins and huge wav files on the fly is a must. Yes a lot of discussion could happen in this topic. For me I went through about four different converters and landed on the German made RME. I have the Fireface 800 and its one of the best pieces of gear I own. Not cheap but I can plug in everything into my studio into it and the latency is nothing. Never crashes or drops out. Pristine conversion.

MOTU Traveler sync'd with an Alesis ADAT Blackface, 16 channels in/out, all fed & routed by a Tascam M-320 vintage analogue console 20:4:2 with four auxiliaries plus direct out on every channel - I can route anything to anything.
I monitor in 2.1 and 5.1 via a Denon Home Theatre Receiver through Paradigm & Tannoy studio monitors.
Sweet, silky & warm :)
Sometimes I pass tracks through a Sony four track 1/4" open reel deck for extra jizz
Dime that puppy!!!

I'm shopping add-on Firewire cards & front port cable right now just so I'll have it on this machine.

I'm also waiting on some reviews for this unit before jumping-
