Starting to record!!

Postby Slash1337 » 12 Jul 2009, 20:09

KK, so the band has 9 originals now. All we gotta do is record them and put them up on the net, and start gigging. I have a pretty good idea of what I need. mics, cables, software, mixer, and a somehting to capture the sound.

I've found this, http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/pr ... sku=500689

And I think it would be a good idea, but then again.. I'm asking for a second opinion. You can burn and mix right on the machine which we great. But the singer is going to buy a seperate lap top, and I'm going to pay for teh mics and mixer and what not cause I plan on keeping the recording gear. So, if any of you have any recomendations on gear spill em' out yo!

I don't wanna go cheap on it, but I dont want to spend thousands either.

THanks for your time and all.

Sorry for the double post hehe.

I also need to buy a new computer, it's probably going to be strickly for recording. (possible limited internet connection). Only question I have..

Laptop or Desktop computer!? I'm so puzzled!! Laptop you have the portablity of going else where with the data and whatnot. But I guess you can save files and songs to an external hardrive.

Can anyone recomend me a computer and a program like Pro Tools/Cubase thats almost as good and for half the price(or less :D). I plan on buying the computer and program by the end of the week. Next pay cheque I will buy the mixer, and after that mics and cables. Also if I'm missing anything please let me know! it's the first time. MAybe recommend me some mics/mixers. I believe I posted a,link to one that caught my attention.

Thanks again,
Carlo
