I have a extra SM57 for the guitar and a dual Audio-Technica ATM250DE Dual-Element Instrument Microphone. You already know what the SM57 is but the Audio-Technica ATM250DE is the best damm drum mic to have. It has both a dynamic and a condensor in perfect phase and when place properly above or in front of the drum set it will make the drums sounds killer through the mixer. The mic has a split XLR on the mixer end so you can controll the condersor and dynamic sepratly :Thumbs Can handle 148 dB SPL

Read about it below.

I always had excellent results from the Rode NT3 for guitar on stage. Very inexpensive for what it is.

I suspect it would be fine for drums too.

I have the Shure drum mic kit that comes with 3 Sm57s & 1 Beta 52A (for the bass drum). It works great.
I just wonder why it only comes with 3 Sm57s since most drum kits have a snare & 3 toms? I do have another 57 though so I use that one on the snare.

I actually have the kit sitting right here in my pile of stuff I may sell if my wife can't find a job soon. Don't really want to, but rarely use it so it's on the short list.

If you decide to sell, let me know how much you are asking.

i would have suggested that kit that slowpoke has as well and add...if you can...add a pair of sdc small diaphram condensor mics for drum over heads. that will capture the symbals and stuff. there are seveal options in any price range!

And sm57s for guitar cabs!
Everybody seems to think i'm lazy.
I dont mind...I think they're crazy!

Apparently there's virtually nothing in it between them and shure.

3 mics? That would be the "Glyn Johns drum mic method" ... post back here if a web search doesn't get you a result. It might get a bit detailed for a guitar site readership so I'll spare you for now. It was good enough for John Bonham on "When the Levee Breaks" (and "Who's Next" and ... )

You might all laugh att me, but a friend uses a Rode NT-1...
He says it's such a versatile mic he uses it for electric guitar cab, acoustic, vocals and even drums.... :whatever
I have NO experience myself with mics and don't want to be a smart-ass,but in my ears it sounds good, that's all.
