Postby TheLesPaul101 » 10 Nov 2010, 16:44

I need a good microphone for recording and live playing. I need it to be under $200. I play rock music and want good tone. Anyone got any suggestions?

Amps: Fender Blues JR., Roland Cube 30x
Effects: Maxon OD808--> Maxon OD820-->BBE Sonic Stomp-->Boss DD-20 Giga Delay w/ Boss FS-5U-->Strymon Flint

Just my opinion, but if you want something that is going to work great for recording and live play consider a Radial JDX rather then a mic. I got rid of most of my guitar cabinet mics and went to all JDX boxes, best thing I ever did for recording.

If you really need a mic I have a extra SM57 I can sell you.

the SM57 is a great mic and sounds great on guitar cabs. it also has a slight presense peak. That makes it great for live use as well as the extra presense makes sure it cuts through the mix in live situations.
Everybody seems to think i'm lazy.
