VM2266 + 425A+1960A

Postby sikter » 15 Aug 2014, 03:22

My mate guitarist can't make it tomorrow so I decided to connect another 4x12" cab to my Vintage Modern.
It worked very well during the sound check. I hope it will work even better with crowded venue.

Two very different sounding cabinets for sure. Never mixed the two because I do not like the G12T-75 speakers with the VM. But anytime you mix it can be a good thing, I would imagine you would have more bottom end by adding the 1960A.

I should open this 1960A up. It sounds better than 425A. Who knows what speakers are inside...

The gig went pretty fine. We had a full control.
A friend of mine was listenning to us so we had opportunity to
adjust our live mix. We heard each other very well and had very nice sound on the back line.
I didn't engage distortion pedal for entire night.
It was just pure Sound of Vintage Modern. I used wireless Relay G30 first couple of songs and switched over to cable.
In my ears, Relay G30 is not good enough. I didn't meet anyone else that share my opinioun.
I should record A-B test ...

While wireless is much better then it used to be, most guitar players (not the audience) can hear the loss of tone. I find in small venues the wireless to be unnecessary.

I have done the same a few times - one cab on each side of the drums - to spread the sound a bit as the PA does not always do the work properly.
I use G90 and are super happy with it and use it all the time - even in smaller places. Great for soundcheck as you can walk out in front of the PA while playing.

I think DA/AD convertors in G30 are cheep.
Are you using G90 in combination with your tube amps or with Axe FX only?

Only with the AxeFx - I have it in a rack.
If I want wireless with my Marshall setup i'd probably get the G30 but I kind of like using tubeamps with cables. I actually use Marshall guitar cables in my setup :jam
