Robin Trower Concert pics

Postby surfnorthwest » 05 Feb 2011, 07:46

Well just back from Orlando and finally I can post these pics from Robin's concert at the House of Blues. On this tour he really did his homework on the set list pulling a lot of old classics. I was very happy to hear all the songs he played from In City Dreams. Two Vintage Moderns and his usual setup of Fulltone pedals all night.

Robin's playing to me is simply a clinic on technique, he never seems to be bored with performing and IMO has lost nothing in skill over the years. Highly recommend catching the show if you can.

Sweet pics, thanks for posting them, Surf.

Trower is such an inspiration regarding not "losing it" as one ages. The guy is still incredible and has retained/improved his musicality and guitar playing as he gets older way more than a lot of players from his era. And he really is a great example of an older dude rocking out with dignity and coolness.

Nice to see those Vintage Modern badboys lined up together! Were they 2266s, 2466s, or one of each?

(I gotta look into catching the Detroit show...)

I couldn't tell for sure if they were 50s or 100s, but I know they sounded great. I would guess they were 2466's.

Trower has out lasted many great guitarists from his era, I would contribute a lot of that to good band mates and staying sober. Another thing I did not make the connection of until that night was the singer, I did not know that Davey Pattison was the old singer for Ronnie Montrose's band Gamma. Man I loved Gamma.

Those are some awesome pictures Surfnorthwest! What an amazing show I could only imagine! Trower is a guy I will see for sure next time he comes anywhere within 100 miles of me! I realize we may not have to many more opportunities to see this amazing legend perform.
