Noisy pots

Postby halfajob_charlie » 26 Aug 2008, 06:49

My detail pot is just starting to get a little noisy when I turn it. Is it ok to use switch cleaner on these pots?

I imagine it would be, but I'd hold off until you get an answer from SteveD just to be sure.

Sorry Charlie, I must have missed this for whatever reason when it was originally posted. :o

There's nothing digital about the pots on the Vintage Modern, they are as analogue as any analogue pot that Marshall has ever used.

If you do use switch cleaner make sure it is a type that is ok to use with potentiometers and please do not use a lot, some people flood them out and this is not necessary. :)

Can you guys recommend the kind of spray? Where can I get it? My bassman has some scratchy pots and would like to see if this spray helps.

In the US, Radio Shack makes two types of electrical parts sprays; one with lubricant and one without. I like the one with lubricant and use it to clean my strings and it als helps lubricate the nut and keep my guitars in tune!
