Loud pop on power down...

Postby Blenderhead » 20 Mar 2015, 12:51

Hello all,

Just like the title reads...On my JMD100, I get a loud pop when I power it down. No burning or smoke or anything like that, just one loud pop. I wanna say that I read somewhere that some amps just do that and I shouldn't worry. What say ye?

Thanks!

Mine pops if I turn it off without first turning off the standby switch . If you turn the standby off for a few seconds and then turn the power off , It never pops . I generally drop the volume down before power off
I know it's only rock and roll , but I like it .

The "pop" sound is pretty common in all solid state amps, some are louder than others but it does happen with the JMD1 and it will not hurt anything. I think it has to do with the solid state rectifier.

Anyways, try turning the master volume to 0 then switch to standby. Power off after about 10 seconds and see it that lessens it.

I knew I heard that somewhere...that the pop is common in some amps. Just wanted to be reassured... :)
