Indicator light VM vs 1959 LTD

Postby Marti » 01 Feb 2009, 08:46

Hello guys,

Next to my VM I also own a Marshall 1959LTD (Also known as the Jimmy Hendrix stack). The tolex on this amp is purple.
The on/off indicatorlight on this amp is the common red one. But getting used to the blue light on the VM i think it looks way cooler when this light was also blue.
So I was wondering if the indicator light used on the VM fitts in my 1959, and where can i order one?

Not sure if they are inter changeable. Steve will know since he designed both amps.
But if they are you can order one here (if they ship to the Netherlands):

I did the SUPER100JH which is a reissue of Jimi's early JTM45/100 stacks (which has an old style amber indicator). I think the stack Marti has is a 90s reissue of Jimi's later Marshalls with EL34s.

If you wanted to fit a Vintage Modern indicator into the 1959LTD stack you would have to add a 68 ohm/0.5W resister in series with it as it uses an LED not a bulb.

@slowpokerhino: great that's what I'm looking for and yes, they ship worldwide.

@SteveD: thanks for the reply and you're right, it's the 90s reissue with EL34s. I'll gif it a try.
