SteveD how much work involved...

Postby stax » 16 Mar 2009, 12:14

My friend bought a "floor model" 2266 last week and noticed on the back that one of the FX loop buttons was sheered off! I believe that it is the bypass button. My question is how easy would it be for my friend (he has some experiance with a soldering iron and amps) to get the part and replace it himself? He really doesn't want to have to send his amp out for a month!

Thanks and this is so very cool that your here on the forum for us! Very cool indeed. :jam

Has it actually been sheared off or is the black cap just missing?

I believe it is broke off into the housing. Tonight we will be jamming together (he wants to put his VM up against my JCM 800) and I will inquire a little more about the details and get back to you.

Okay, the black cap is broken off flush with the mechanism that it is glued on, so it can be pushed in with a pen or something. Would it be easier to get the black cap and replace it or replace the whole housing?

Tonight was the first time my friend and I have been able to really open up the volume on our 2266's (we both bought them last week) and WOW! Great amp for sure. The amp really shines with both Les Pauls and Strats (Tele's too). Was it based loosely on the Hendrix design?

It's probably just the black cap missing to be honest, they are not glued on, just pushed on.

The Vintage Modern's tonal foundation has its roots in the KT66 period JTM Marshalls as championed by Hendrix and Cream among others, around 1965 to 1968.
