ON/OFF Purple LED Light Updates???

Hi Folks,

First VM2466, the bulb went in a matter of 2 weeks ... Korg USA sent me a replacement immediately. I googled them just now and it looks like they don't handle Marshall anymore.

I just bought a VM2266 Head and guess what??? The bulb is not working.
Parts is Parts does not have it anymore either.

Do we have an update as to where one can be purchased???

I guess the best place would be your nearest Marshall dealer and ask them to order you a 'BULB-00007'. I'm not sure what the lead time is to The States though.

Yes they are. When I bought my first VM2466 it only took it 2-3 weeks before it started going intermittent. Now, I just bought a VM2266 yesterday so the other one wouldn't be so lonely and it was dead on start up.
Steve .. I emailed the new Marshall USA company that took over from Korg. Are you saying they won't have them either? Is it an exclusive Bletchley part???

I don't know if they'll have any stock, they might have. They will be able to get them though if they haven't.

Steve, if you can say, is the reason the lamps are blowing because of reverse voltage? Did the lamp manufacturer forget to put series diodes in these lamps? We work with lasers here at my job, and most illuminating LED's are somewhat sensitive to reverse voltage. The lamp in the Vintage Modern does have a series resistor, but is powered by unrectified AC, so the potential for reverse voltage is there.

If the above is the case, a user could place a rectifier diode such as a 1N4001 in series with the bulb, and prevent the reverse voltage condition.

The initial spec published by the manufacturer showed that the led's reverse voltage figure was above the amplitude of the heater voltage from which its power is derived. However at some point soon after production started the manufacturer changed said spec to a lower figure without telling us! We consequently had them made with a series diode thereafter so all BULB-00007's now have a diode included from about mid 2007.

We had that same thing happen at my previous job; a well known IC manufacturer suddenly changed a parameter on a single-source power supply IC that made it useless in our product. Didn't even tell us, we had an entire batch of units fail because of it, and had to redesign a PCB for its replacement. That was over 20 years ago, and I still will not use that company's parts in any of my designs.
