Postby matt3310 » 27 Mar 2015, 21:44

And what are they worth?
One cab has Carvin 200 watt speakers, the other has no label. I know there old PA speakers, but any other info? Value? And whats the correct speakers for them?

They're model 1917 PA speaker cabinets. The "A" in the serial number would be consistent with gear built in 1969/1970. As far as value, (only a guess) but I a going to say little to nothing.

The serial number system for amplifiers does not apply to speaker cabinets. That is an early 70's cabinet, probably from very late 71 to 73. That is roughly when they used that style of serial badge on the cabs.

Non-original grill, so it would be a good idea to fit them with checkerboard if you know how to do it.

They have little value, especially in that condition. A shame I know, but there is next to no demand for PA cabs thesedays. Guitar players just dont want them, even the old pinstripe cabs.

Originally they would have been loaded with 10" celestion model 7442 or on rare occasion goodmans.

If you like them just keep them and use them.

the best I could say would be to put some good speakers in them (depending on those Carvin's tone & condition) and use them for stereo speakers for the jam room. :Thumbs
keeping it loud- JMP-1 rack,LPs,strats,& way too much other gear.
