Adding a 1x12 cab to my DSL40c questions

Postby noise5150 » 20 May 2015, 13:51

I am thinking about getting an empty 1x12 cab and throwing in a Veteran 30 (I already put one into the DSL40). The speaker in the DSL is a 16 ohm. I was wondering about the set-up. I want both speakers to work at the same time.
1) Would I need an 8 or 16 ohm speaker?
2) what input on the back of the DSL40 would I plug the extra 1x12 into?

Thanks!!

You need to match the speakers, so, you'll want 16 ohm. I believe that you'd plug both into 8 ohm out, because you'll be running 8 ohms total.

8. & 9. 8Ω SPEAKER OUTPUTS
For use when the total impedance of the speaker
cabinet(s) being used is 8Ω. That is, when using
either 1 x 8Ω cab or 2 x 16Ω cabs.

Paul is correct. You have two 8ohm speaker outputs on the back of your amp. Move the speaker jack in the 16ohm socket to one of the 8ohm sockets. Plug the other 1x12 cabinet into the other 8ohm socket. As Paul said you have to use a 16ohm speaker in the new cabinet.

That should compliment your amp well.

Do note that, if you have the stock speaker in the amp, this will be considerably louder, which might be good for a bottom speaker. The vet has a low res. freq of 95hz, so it's not going to be a bassy speaker, but, being in a closed cab, it should be nice & tight, to go w/ your open back combo...

I checked out that company a few years ago as they had the lowest prices on plywood cabs....let us know if you get one and your opinion of it.

I replaced the stock speaker in the amp a few weeks ago with a Veteran 30 so I am thinking about getting another one for the empty 1x12 cab. I was also thinking about possibly a Retro 30 for the 1x12 cab but the Veteran is so good I might just stick with that.
