G12C speakers?

Postby dook » 19 Mar 2009, 21:08

Can you buy these or do they only come with the Hendrix reissue and VM?

That said, I just noticed that the Paul Weller amp 1987xpw also has G12Cs in it. That's interesting, as a 1987xl head is not often paired with a 425 cab. SteveD - is there any comment you can make about this 1987xpw combo and the choice of G12Cs?

Thanks.

The original 'Lead and Bass' combos came with G12Ms stock. The G12C can be used by Marshall in any range that is appropriate. The G12C is a variant of the G12M in terms of that it sounds like the old G12Ms so it was a perfect fit in the final product.

A 1987 sounds great through a 425. :rocker :Thumbs

Obviously the 1987 was around long before the 425 and for historical reasons it is traditionally paired with a cab that looks from the same period.
Still my guitar gently weeps

Just thought I'd post back again with a confirmation and a thank you! The 1987 does indeed sound great through a 425a. Thanks for the info and tip Steve.

Another question if I may. You said the original lead and bass combos came with G12Ms. Did the original lead and bass cabs come with G12H30s or also G12Ms?

The very first Marshall cabs came loaded with the G12M 20 watt Celestion speaker. Later they moved to the what is now known as the G12H30 speaker. So yes, the originals came with the G12M but the G12H30 was not too far removed from the G12M.
