I can speak to the 50watt alnico golds. I have a 4x12 loaded with them and they are the best. Articulate, great range and perfectly voiced. When you play through them the quality is obvious.

Cons, yes. Not a great hard rock speaker, and expensive. They are better than a greenback of any type or era to my ears but not a $150 per speaker better. If you can get by with the lower wattage blues they are better for hard rock I think.

I use mine with a Dr Z 50 watt head and the clean, crunch and blues tones are perfect. I just wish they didn't cost so much.

I've got an Alnico/Ceramic mix in a 4x10 that is great tone, not exactly the same as 2x12, but I couldn't be happier with that mix!
Maybe call Weber or Avatar direct and get a recommendation.
