Well I had to let you guys know, because I'm totally freaking stoked-picked up 2 8ohm 25w Greenback g12m's today at Sam Ash for 109 a piece. These are to replace the g12t-75's that were in my 1936 2x12 that I usually rehearse with. I'm running the 2266 through this, set to 8ohms. They're not even broken in and the sound is 10 times better than the 75's-I won't be able to really crank it until tomorrow, because the whole house is asleep-can't wait.
Surf-if you read this, thanks for letting me know you record with the Greenbacks-I plan on leaving this 2x12 in my house to play at home, low to moderate volume-and to record with-so I went with these mostly based on that comment. I know this cab won't be loud enough to gig with (at least with my current band) but I don't care-I can finally hear the magic in the notes, that I knew was supposed to be there, but just wasn't. I'm no longer afraid to play high notes lolololol.
Man, I though new speakers were supposed to sound like crap!!! I must have REALLY been suffering with those 75's-should have done this a long time ago. I'm sitting as I type this at super quiet volume playing these spank brand new speakers and they sound like cream and sugar compared to my old rig.
Anyway thanks for the help with the choice guys-anyone want a pair of nicely broken in Celestion G12T-75's, cheap??? HAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHA..no really..
The sad ending to the story is...now I have to gradually convert over my 412...argh.
