Hi!

What you think of the Marshall JCM 2000 DSL50? Think it is an amplifier that is worth buying?

The DSL is different from the VM in many ways but it's absolutely an amp worth buying. I have both.
The JCM2000 is probably one of the most popular Marshall amps so there is a lot of happy owners out there.
It's a very flexiable amp as it has 2 separate channel and you will be able to dial up both a nice clean and monster gain setup.
You are able to get a fairly good modern metal sound as well.
At the same time the VM has a more distinctive sound and its own personality.

As always it comes down to preference ... try & try !

I have a DSL50, picked it up for a great price aways back. I use it to "stereo" with my VM. It is different from the VM no doubt. It is a great amp, but the VM gets all my time, unless I'm looking to do some "Kill em All" type tones.

The VM has a rounder fuller tone than the DSL. The DSL has the more sharp mids, cutting type tones. Works better IMO for that early bay area thrash sound. The green/crunch mode is pretty dynamic and where I spend most my time. The clean is allright, abit dry and boring, kinda one dimensional to me, :dunno kinda hard to explain. But good none the less.

IMHO the DSL truely smokes the TSL. If the house were on fire, The VM would be the one in hand going out the door

I think the DSL50 is a great compliment to the VM, since I have one as well. My friend borrowed it the other night for a gig, and it sounded great. A few mods go a long way for the DSL. They are relatively cheap to get, DSL50 I got for $580, and with mods about $100 more (I got a MMOT for $77)
