New Marshall Class 5 Amp

That's great news and all I needed to hear to convince me this will be well worth a try. Everything I read about it on the website told me this was going to be good. I'm VERY happy that it's just a straight up simple tube amp with no unnecessary bells and whistles. Nice job on the price point too. That's a great amp for a kid just starting out. It will bring them up right.

Make no mistake, this is a professional piece of kit, not really for entry level, but I would love to think that young kids just starting out would choose the Class 5 to learn their chops on.

No mistake here Steve, I can see it's a quality piece of equipment and I'm already daydreaming about getting my hands on one. My 2266 halfstack made me a true believer. I'm just hoping it will help motivate kids starting out to walk away from Line 6 and the other buzz box crap out there and try out a real nice old school little tube amp. If more players came up on stuff like this, it could change today's rock music for the better.

I had the opportunity to look around this amp at the Essex guitar show last Saturday. Lovely piece of kit. It reminded me of the 18W Bluesbreaker but about 3/4 of the size. I would like to pick one up but I have only just bought the VM and my AC30 just ended on ebay without any bids!

BTW if anyone from Peach Guitars read this stuff - great show Saturday guys. I had never been to the shop before but I will definitely be going back.

I went to the show with my wife and young twins (future rock stars) so unfortunately I wasn't around long enough to see it in action, but I spoke with (Simon?) the Marshall guy and he was pretty excited about it. I got there quite early and some guy was on the stage area demo'ing a Bognor amp and some fancy floor multi-fx unit. It got very busy around late morning and I had bought what I went for (I was sold on the Paul Gilbert Coil cable from the VM demo video and the only place I could get one in the UK was 440 Distribution who had a stall at the show). Neither did they have a demo amp in the guitar shop itself due to them covering Dr Z amps quite extensively (and exclusively). Marshall also had a nice JTM45 head at the show.

I am sure they demo'd the Class 5 at some point, and that someone will be on here to comment. Sorry guys.
