Hahahahahaha.

Late to the party and searching all things Class 5 led me to this site eventually, figured I'd check in & say hey! Cool site.
I had to try one, been a long time since I bought something that said Marshall on it. This just showed up today
Pretty cool. Still trying to figure out where the edge of clean is with my guitars and then hit it with pedals as opposed to just pegging it.
I don't know that the Gold Celestion is the match for it but it's what I'm using.
Actually going to try to gig live with it this weekend if I don't chicken out.
Could be a big fail, to be continued.
As advertised it's a loud 5 watts.

Congrats and welcome to the Class 5 Club! I haven't tried it myself, but I hear the Gold is a good speaker choice.

Hi Mondoslug, and welcome to the forum. I had a Rat Class 5 and tried it with a Celestion Blue, which is very similar to the Gold. I find these speakers very full in the low mids and high mids but with a rounded top end. I think a Vintage 30 might be better because of its detail response, but it depends on your guitar and playing style too.

Thanks for the replies y'all.

Hey voodoo67, I did gig it this weekend, for a set anyway. It's just not quite enough for me. A nice tone pushed with or without pedals where I like it but then to get clean from there...there's just not quite enough there...for me that is. It was really close though, probably nothing a JTM 45 wouldn't cure. :)

I pulled it after a set & switched heads...then I brought it again last night but ended up using another head. It was mic'd and all that, I just was desiring a little more tight bottom end....but hey, it's 5W!

YMMV of course.

Thanks for the report!

I've used my Class 5 combo as amp B at gigs. Amp A is a brown Fender Deluxe, or an AC15. When I need more dirt or a bigger sound, I'll engage the Class 5, as an A+B with both amps. For me, the 1x10 hasn't been quite enough on it's own. It's awesome, but without being mic'd, I get nervous about it holding ground w/ my drummer, bassist, and other guitar player. I've got a 2061cx 2x12, so may get a Class 5 head to play around with using that cab.
