bedroom mod

Postby jrphatstrat » 04 Nov 2012, 06:57

I modded my ver2 class 5 for low power mode by
wiring the internal speaker with a 1/4 inch plug and plugged it half way into the phones for lp mode and into the external speaker jack for full power. It sounds great and works just fine but I was wondering if there where any problems this could cause.

That will cause no problems, many have done it. If you use a stereo jack plug you can plug it all the way in. You say version 2 C5? is this the 3 piece back verison before the now available C5-01?

I did it that way for a long time until I did this mod...low power mod, either way it won't harm anything.

Yes, 3 piece back but no low power mode. I used it for a while with pedals for distortion but nothing beats the real thing!

The only thing that bothers me about that mod is that since you are not unplugging the leads from the output transformer, won't that add to the resistance on the headphones circut?

It's my understanding that's where the low power switch came from and how it is in the ones that have the low power switch except it's incorporated into the board. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
