Should I Be Concerned.....

Postby madh4ttr » 17 Nov 2012, 06:45

Fairly new to my Class 5 and although I had a Marshall JTM30 for many years that had the same issue, I had never thought to ask. When turning my Class 5 off, it has a loud pop. Is this anything to be concerned about?

I've got 4 Class 5s and they do that from time to time. It seems to happen after it has sat at idle for a while.

Well thanks for the reply. Something so simple as cutting off the amp almost immediately after playing vs. letting it sit a few minutes seemed to have really helped. Not used to no stand by switch on my amp.

I have a Class 5 and a Blues Jr that do not have standby switches. On both of them I turn the volume knob (and master on the Jr) to 0 for a couple of minutes after I switch them on and before I shut them off. Just to try to simulate a standby like effect.
