Change fuse C5

Postby zamm » 14 Jan 2013, 23:22

Is it easy to replace the interior fuses without killing myself? Is it necessary to drain the caps if that's all I'm going in for?

Any time you open a tube amp precautions need to be taken. It is good you are asking. There is no hazard of shock changing the fuse as long as you have the amp unplugged and dont go poking around where you shouldn't. But the caps must drain.

Once you unplug the amp wait 30 minutes before you do the fuse change just as a added precaution. Use a plastic fuse puller if you have one.

Thank you for your reply. I usually just take my amps to a tech, but I don't want to pay the bench charge if all it is is a blown fuse. I've never had an amp with the fuses inside the chassis.
